I also enjoy writing. When I was in the first grade, my teacher, Mrs. Kizitaf told me she would like a copy of my first book. I went home and searched through several stories I had written and I turned one of my stories into a book for Mrs. Kizitaf. I glued my words to the blank pages and illustrated it all by myself. I gave it to my teacher as a present to thank her for being so awesome. “Why Bedtime Sucks” went from a silly story I had written to stretch out the time before going to bed, to an actual picture book. Mrs. Kizitaf loved the book so much that she shared it with the whole class. My class said they loved my story and it inspired them to write their own stories.
I wondered if my book could be a real book someday. A book that would be on a bookshelf, in a home library, a public or school library, for sale at a bookstore?
Just like that, I became I’m an author. My book is being professionally illustrated and the character created is ME! I am in a book, just like Piggy and Elephant (by Mo Williems). But this time the story is MINE.
The best part is MY STORY has inspired other kids to write THEIR own stories, create their own books. I hope I can do the same with children around the world.
